Reunited at Last

Our sweet shiba made it across the pond overnight and we collected her in one piece.  We had to drive down to Heathrow to pick her up which was a 2+ hr drive.  Turns out the speed limit on the “motorways” in England is 80 mph and the right lane is the “fast lane”.  The speed limit on the “non-motorway” (or A roads) is 70 mph unless otherwise stated.  Made for a quick, but at times stressful, journey.  However it was all worth it when we saw our not-so-little fur-baby walk through the doors at the Animal Reception Centre.  We collected her things and hopped back in the car for the journey north.

Huge relief to see this!

After a 2 hour drive back to the hotel, we unloaded the dog and took her for a stroll through the nearby village.  It is exactly what you think of when you envision a British village – crumbling stone fences with ivy, lilacs and daffodils growing, sheep grazing on grass, a babbling brook…you get the picture.  Lacey was eventually exhausted and we were hungry for dinner so we dropped her back at the hotel, fed her and headed off ourselves in search of good grub.  We had some decent chinese food and found another cute village to explore.  Tomorrow we’re planning on scouting out a Beer & BBQ Festival nearby.   I’ll leave you with a photo from our stroll (I would add more but the hotel internet doesn’t like me uploading all these large files)
