This week I had two days off and we had reservations for a cute hotel on the coast. Monday morning we headed off for the seaside. Of course, it was beautiful at home and the closer we got, the cloudier the skies became. Our first stop was Hunstanton, aka “Sunny Hunny.” Sadly, it wasn’t very sunny for us. We had both stowed jackets in the car so we put those on and ventured to the town center with the Shiba in tow. She absolutely loved running around some open green spaces. When looking for a spot for lunch we spotted a donut stand. Not exactly healthy lunch material, but it was the best decision! They piped the batter directly into hot oil and when cooked dropped them into cinnamon sugar coating. We devoured the 3 donuts in record time. Lacey even got to enjoy a few “accidentally dropped” pieces. We walked a bit further down the waterfront then hopped back in the car to get to our final destination.
After driving down some seriously windy, nerve-wracking roads, we reached our destination. We were too early to check into the hotel so wandered through the streets with the pup at our side. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, eating dinner and taking a harbor-side stroll. We finished off in the pub at the hotel having desert and drink. Lacey even got to join us and she loved all the attention from the bar staff.
The next morning we enjoyed a super delicious breakfast at the hotel, walked around town then loaded up the car and drove down to the beach. As we were walking across the sand, Lacey was pulling back at the leash and did not seem excited at all. I started to worry the day would be a bust, but once we got to the water, she was in love. We let her off the leash and she went crazy. For over an hour we threw her tennis ball into the water, across the sand and chased her around. She even got a little crazy with a few other dogs on the beach. C wasn’t feeling too well so we cut out early and headed home.
We had such a great, short trip! Thankfully its a relatively short drive and definitely doable for a day trip. I plan on making at least one more visit before the end of summer!
