Adventures in Aberdeen

Last week we made a trip to Aberdeen and Glasgow in Scotland.  First up was a train ride to Aberdeen which took several hours and a few changeovers.  It was Lacey’s first time on a train and it didn’t start off so well.  While waiting at the first train station she started whining, pacing, and being all around dramatic in typical Shiba fashion.  Once on the train she was a little more calm but still whined occasionally.  Thankfully, by the next train she got all her nerves out and was completely fine.  After a few more changes we made it to Aberdeen and quickly found our hotel.  The hotel room had a pullout sofa/futon so Lacey got her own bed – she loved it!  The staff at the hotel loved her too and would comment on her almost every time she walked through the lobby.

We spent 3 total days exploring in and around Aberdeen.  The first night we just relaxed, ate a great dinner at a Greek restaurant and found a great bar for drinks & board games.  Our second day was spent traveling around the countryside, seeing Balmoral Castle (the Queen’s summer home in Scotland), and learning some fun facts about Scotland from a very Scottish tour guide.  Finally we spent our last day visiting the Maritime Museum which had some interesting displays including information on off-shore drilling which I found particularly interesting.  In between all these activities we took Lacey to a great park in the city center which she absolutely loved.

We had a fantastic time in Aberdeen!  The weather was great, the countryside beautiful and the city had plenty to keep us busy.  After our 3 days there, we boarded the train to Glasgow for the 2nd half of our trip.  More on that portion in my next post!
