Another trip in the books!

Last week we packed up the suitcase and dog and hopped on another train.  This time we headed for Manchester, Liverpool and York.  Our first two days were spent exploring Manchester.  Unfortunately our trip started out with a “verbal threat” from a man walking down the street.  Apparently he thought my conversation with C was actually us talking about him and yelled “I’m going smash your face in”.  Yeah, that was quite the interesting start to a trip, no?  Thankfully, the rest of the time there was without incident.

We spent time wandering around the city, stumbled across the most amazing library I’ve ever seen and tried to avoid getting rained on.

Our second day we went to the Museum of Science and Industry which had a great exhibit on brains!  Leave it to me to go on vacation and seek out educational/medical stuff :-)  They also had exhibits on textiles, trains, airplanes, computers and several other things.  We also found a great mexican food stand at a Market.  C tried their habanero hot sauce and loved it.  The stand also sold dried peppers so I bought a few poblanos and chipotle peppers to make something delicious back home. We capped the afternoon by spending some time in the National Football Museum – C loved it because he loves football (aka soccer) and I actually learned some things!  That evening we attended a jazz concert which was part of the Manchester Jazz Festival.  It was a great concert and a good way to cap our stay.
