After Manchester and Liverpool we boarded the train for our final destination – York. We’d heard great things about the city prior to the trip so had high expectations. Thankfully, it lived up to them! We walked from the train station through a cute park & neighborhood to an adorable B&B. After checking in, getting the low down from our host and dropping our bags we headed off for a walk and lunch. After walking ’round and ’round we ended up at a super cute cafe just down the road from our B&B. It had outdoor picnic tables so we sat with Lacey and enjoyed some delicious food & good people watching. The street was absolutely adorable with a flower shop, cafe, grocer, kitchen shop, Italian bistro (with delicious gelato!) and other small shops. After lunch we stopped off to try some of the gelato and got caught in rain walking back.
During our 2 days in York we walked the Roman Walls, visited the National Railway Museum, attended Evensong at the York Minster, enjoyed pints & conversation with a local in a colorful pub, ate delicious street food at the market, wandered the Shambles (an old Medieval road) and attended a local production of Footloose.
After 5 full days of travel, we caught an early morning train back home. Now its 2 weeks at work until 5 days in Paris and Brussels (this time without the pup)!
