Halfway There!

Today marks 20 weeks along in my pregnancy which means 20 weeks to go! Well that’s assuming this little one arrives right on time which I highly doubt. Only about 5% of babies actually are, after all.

This has been a pretty good week. We had a big appointment yesterday to check off all the big anatomy stuff like the heart, brain, belly, spine, and the genitalia. Everything looked pretty great and the little one measuring right around on time (about 3 days ahead). It’s estimated weight is 13oz at this time….which begs the question, where the heck is all this extra weight coming from?!? I’m only partially kidding, I know where a lot of it goes but I’m also thinking I need to get it in check or I’ll be huge by the time October rolls around – no pun intended.

One thing they did find on the ultrasound was an echogenic intracardiac focus. This can be a “soft marker” for Down Syndrome. However the first trimester screen for genetic abnormalities including bloodwork and a dedicated ultrasound were negative. The NP made it sound like it was super low risk and I tend to agree. We have the option of further testing or evaluation (by a specialist with a focused ultrasound or extra blood work or both), but I think we’re going to decline at this time.

So I guess you might want to know the gender, huh? Well, that will have to wait a day or two because I’m planning on a simple but cute reveal.

Happy Friday y’all!
