California getaway

Back in mid August, I took off to California to visit family and friends for one last time before baby.  My sister graciously offered to fly out from S. Carolina while I was there and throw me a baby shower.  So I flew in Saturday morning and had a shower that same afternoon.

The shower was smallish, but very nice.  Guests included high school friends, my best friend with her mom and 2 girls, family friends, my mom, my sister, my sister-in-law as well as my nieces and nephew.  We had food, played a small game then opened gifts.  And there was a lot of chatting going on, of course!  Our baby girl got tons of clothes blankets and books, all of which were very much appreciated.

The next day I went to the church where I grew up.  It was fun seeing people I’ve known since I was a little girl and seeing how much the church congregation has changed.  Baby girl even got another gift – a beautiful handmade blanket.  I have to admit it was a little surreal being at the church I’ve known since I can remember (where I also went to preschool-6th grade) talking about preparations for my own baby.

The rest of the time in CA was spent with family including a trip to the beach with my nieces one day, dinner with friends, catching a Peter Pan musical with my best friend and nieces and relaxing.  It was a short but nice trip.

After several days in California, I boarded a plane to Seattle to meet up with C and start our babymoon in the Pacific Northwest!
